Artist's Description
Red Cow (also referred as to Red Heifer or Parah Adumah) – The subject matter of this painting has to do with the special purification ritual, prescribed in the Torah (Old Testament, Numbers 19) and not widely known, except among very religious Jews and Christian fundamentalists (The ritual, first performed by Moses, and then, eight more times since, raises some cardinal issues and questions, which cant be fully explained by our rationality.) While I personally, do not belong to either category, after hearing this story for the first time a year ago, its symbolism, mystery and deep philosophical meaning, captured my imagination: I found it fascinating.
Without going into lengthy descriptions, I suggest to all 'inquiring minds' out there to google it and read up some stuff on the subject (there is a lot of available material).
This painting is large (approx., 48x72) and is done in my trademark technique (Stained Glass on Canvas), which utilizes acrylic paints and relief...

My bio in a nutshell... Born in the former USSR, where I majored in music (Masters degree in Musicology) and freelanced as an illustrator. Emigrated to the USA in 1976. Learned computer programming and made my living working in the corporate IT world (mostly, on Wall St.) since the early 80s. Also, freelanced as an illustrator, took part in several art exhibitions during this period. Relocated to PA in 2005. Currently, I reside in Churchville, (Bucks Co.) with my husband and two cats. I paint, illustrate, design and give private art lessons. I exhibit and sell my artwork (mostly, online), as well as work on commission.
