Description
This is one of my first abstract fluid paintings, created on canvas using poured acrylic paints & medium. I’m truly impressed by how amazing this painting technique is. The process of creating is almost magical, as lines, shapes and colors flow, move, mix, morph, fuse together, appear to form and rearrange before one’s eyes, seemingly by itself, resembling the great Walt Disney’s masterpiece “Fantasia”. There’s great deal of creative freedom and spontaneity in this process and the results can be highly unpredictable and surprising. Still, there’s some preparation (selection of colors, pre–mix, etc) and some tweaking/ paint manipulation in a number of different ways along the way is required from an artist. And every painting comes out completely unique: no two are alike.
At this stage, I like to use this fluid painting technique in combination with some others and as such, I prefer to cover with the poured paint only the center part of the surface. Also, I like to use different tools (sticks, etc) to move, adjust and curl the edges, as the “spirit moves” me at that moment. After the paint is completely dried, I may add some additional touches (to the painted center itself, surrounding unpainted surface, or both) to emphasize the contrast, embellish, add graphical element, etc. Thus, the final result may qualify as mixed media in some cases.
“Spring Arrival” is my original fluid abstract acrylic painting on 12”x16” (staples out of sight at the back), stretched, cotton canvas. It's abstract depiction of beginning signs of spring, still light and tentative: water puddles from the melted snow, brownish patches of wet, fertile soil, ready to be plowed and seeded, green newborn grass coming out through the last year dryness of the fields, spring blooms popping up and spreading here and there... I painted background gentle lemon–lime and used gold permanent marker for some post-drying detailing on & around the painted elements to highlight the feel of their movement and shifting, still somewhat slow, but continuously gaining momentum.
Colors: blue, vermillion, yellow, lime green, brown, gold
The painting is ready to hang and finished in UV protective gloss varnish. The sides are painted so there's no need to frame it.
The painting comes initialed and dated on the front and also with a Certificate of Authenticity.
